I've installed the Linux version of AOL Instant Messenger (release 1.1.112) and I can't get the sounds that indicate a message has been received or sent. I'm running KDE2, which has a specific section in the Control Center (under System Notifications) for AIM. I can get other system notification sounds to work, but not the ones for AIM. I've checked off the "play sound" option under "you have received a message" and associated a sound with that message. I can even play the sound from the Control Center. But I don't get it when I actually receive a message.
Is anyone else using AIM? Do you get the sounds?

Paul, I've tried using AOL's AIM for Linux but I wasn't satisfied (and no I was not able to get the sounds working either). I decided to switch to GAIM which I like much better and I suggest that you check it out too. If its not installed with your system you can get it from http://gaim.sourceforge.net Hope this helps... -Peter P.S.: Yes, I am able to use the sounds with GAIM :) -- "Friends don't let friends use Windows"
