Xp m has teh added "bonus" of requiring a near constant connection to M$ ( It must "call home" several times while you use it , even "Office" will have this , er, feature .. Even worse, for Privacy folks, it sets a unique user ID ( tied to the machine it's installed on .... ) FWIW , if you dont let it call home you can't use it at all ... the programs w/ this feature wont run, and I understand, the OS wont run either ... <snip> Personlly, I figure it's the way they plan to move lots of folks onto their "software Rental" scheme ... cos you'll have to be connected to one of their servers to use it ..
If that scheme ever gets off the ground can you imagine the traffice congestion on the M$ webservers as millions of XP users try to write a letter or check their email? Talk about slow! JLK
