Hi Group, I d/l'ed and installed the updated qt rpm and libmng rpm as previously suggested, but still no go. It is kinda interesting, though. I notice when I log in as root all I get upon startx kde2 is a quick flash of the red splash screen and then the error messages pop up on the command line console. When I log in as user, the slate blue KDE background hangs on the screen for a few seconds before theX-server shuts down and kicks back to the console. And, every time I come back from being logged in as user, I see new application icons when i start the old KDE 1.2 desktop. First time-- CDROM and Floppy icons appeared. Second-- Printer Status Icon Third-- Netscape Icon At any rate, here's the error messages from the X-server: (--) SVGA: r128: Using hardware cursor (--) SVGA: r128: Acceleration enabled (--) SVGA: Using XAA (XFree86 Acceleration Architecture) (--) SVGA: XAA: Solid filled rectangles (--) SVGA: XAA: Screen-to-screen copy (--) SVGA: XAA: 8x8 color expand pattern fill (--) SVGA: XAA: Using 8 128x128 areas for pixmap caching (--) SVGA: XAA: Caching tiles and stipples (--) SVGA: XAA: Horizontal and vertical lines and segments ksplash: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory kdeinit: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory /opt/kde2/bin/kinternet: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory knotify: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ktip: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ksmserver: error in loading shared libraries: liblcms.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory waiting for X server to shut down linux:~ # _________________________________________________ All suggestions greatly appreciated.
