Thanks to Mads, I got X configured with sax2.
I have a much simpler question.
When I boot my system now, it defaults to a text login. I can login and then type startx to get into KDE 2. However, I assume (perhaps erroneously) that SuSE has an X login that saves me that trouble (since the other two older distros I've tried - Caldera and Mandrake - had similar things).
Of course SuSE has that. Start yast, goto System Administration, Login Configuration. There you can choose between ASCII (what you have now) and Graphical (which is what you want.) Then you choose which Login program you want to use, I would suggest KDM. Last (if you chose KDM), you can tell yast who should be allowed to shut down your machine from the dialog. I usually set this to "local" When all this is taken care of, you can activate you new settings either by 1) closing down X, and run the command "telinit 5" as root. (On older SuSE versions the number was 3 instead of 5). or 2) Shutdown and reboot. Regards Ole
