Yes, it is possible to get in contact with your cups-administration tools. The instructions are by default in /usr/share/doc/cups, though SuSE may well have placed them in /usr/doc/cups if you have 7.1. I have found the same problem. It seems to depend on browser and host settings. You only need web access for setting the printer from another machine. The command line method as root is more reliable.
