I looked on the hcdb and saw nothing regarding DVD players. SuSE must have some belief that DVD players/devices are supported. What should I buy? I remember someone saying there is a difference between DVD data and DVD video. I'm still not clear if that distinction is a hard ware issue. I'd like to buy a DVD that is compatable with SuSE Linux 7.1, and not spend too much on it. Any suggestions?
Most DVD drives should do just fine, since we simply use them as large CD-ROM drives. Remember, this is not about playing movies :)
LenZ Lenz,
Did you see the stuff I posted a few days ago? http://lurch.ucd.ie/~conormc/linux/dvd.html I have no idea what others may be doing with DVD movies and Linux. I haven't seen a Holywood production in half a year. I haven't seen a TV this year other than when briefly passing by the AV section of a department store. I don't even know if all DVD devices will play a movie on that other OS. I did pick up a Toshiba DVD devices for $99. (Thanks Dee.) It works great. SuSE 7.1 installed much more efficiently than it would have using traditional CR-ROMs. Steve
