I have lilo in the MBR of my system, happily booting SuSE 6.4 and Win98. I recently put in a disk with Solaris 8x86, but can't get lilo to boot it - lilo -t -v complains that the partition table of the Solaris disk is invalid. I am aware that there are some other issues to do with booting Solaris, but am obviously not getting far enough for those to apply.
Is my current version of lilo (lilo-21-89) not coping with the Solaris partition table? Poking around the net seems to reveal people happily booting Solaris 7, but not much about 8.
Here's a shot in the dark: is your kernel compiled with support for Solaris partition tables? I don't know whether it is by default, or even whether this will effect LILO, but it may be worth a look.
