Has anyone successfully install WP 8 on SuSE 7.0 with KDE2?
I have the commercial WP 8, not the download version. I installed it on commercial ver SuSE 6.3 with kernel 2.2.13 and it is running perfect. I cannot install it on 7.0 with kernel 2.2.16. I get all kinds of errors that scroll too fast to see what's going on. Is it because of the new kernel 2.2.16?
Interesting coincedence; I just posted the same thing last week. I found that on my old hardware, an AMD586x133 and 2 speed cdrom , the istall went fine with SuSE 7.0. However, with my newwer hardware, Athlon800 and 48 x cdrom I have the same results as you. Afterwards I thought the problem may be hardware associated. I searched the corel web site but found nothing, I also posted on the corel bulletin board but didn't get back to check it out. Are you using new hardware? If not perhaps it is something with kde2? I am not sure if I have kde2 installed on my older system with SuSE 7.0, but I do have it installed on the newer system that doesn't work. I used the command line installation, but there maybe library incompatibilities . Don't give up, some have installed it on SuSE 7.0, we just need to find out what is different about our systems. If it isn't hardware releated, perhaps it is the choice of libraries we installed. joe
