I just installed 4.02. how does one start it up? Typing "startx" seems to bring up 3.3.6. The readme from SuSE tells one on how to install it but that is it.
All this effort to try and get my ati all-in-wounder 128 pro card to work.
I tried "XFree86" which seemed to load 4.02 but all i get is blank screen. do i have to type something else to get all the other stuff to show on the screen. The screen refreshing seems off. the screen is fuzzy.
I guess you didn't overwrite the old install? A couple of things from memory. The format of the XF86Config file is different so must be created . In addition it's moved to /etc/X11 not /etc. IMHO the effort is well worth it. 3.3.6 was okay. 4.0 was a leap forward. 4.0.2 is even better. Looks better then windows with my rage fury card. So start by trying to configure card. Sax2 would be the SuSE way but I think a new program was included with 4.0.2 I didn't try it. Nick
