All right, I finally got it to work. :)
And many thanks to Szucs, pointing out that the changes should be in /etc/X11/XF86Config instead of /etc/XF86Config.
This is confusing and causes all the delay on getting it to work earlier.

I had the same problem. Had to modify the solution found on the Suse web page a little bit:
modifying the config file in /etc/X11/XF86Config worked:
Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "Device" "/dev/pointer0"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "SampleRate" "60"
Option "BaudRate" "1200"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
