I don't know why everyone is all wigging about
Sendmail. If you look in /etc/rc.config.d/ you will find a file
called sendmail.rc.config and it is where you would set all the
settings you should ever need. I would change one setting in there
though...that would be the switches sendmail is started with..it has
the -bd option which has it listen on port 25 for connections. This
is unneed if you are not running a mail server and are using
fetchmail or your mailer for popping mail. When you take the -bd
option away it will just sit there as a daemon and wait to send your
mail. If you have a mail relay at your isp then set your smarthost
in the sendmail.rc.config to that host. Your sendmail will hand it
off to the relay server at your isp and it will do 99% of the work.
It's simple really. :)
