I don't think this is the problem. I've tried several of the kernels, my first choice was the Pentium optimized one. In addition, I'm not sure why there should be such a large increase in kernel size between versions if this were the case. In addition, I can boot the installed distribution from the floppy/CD. So in conclusion, I still cannot boot 7.0 from the hard drive, it hangs without any error messages (at least that I can see) after saying that it's loading the kernel and before uncompressing the kernel. SuSE 6.3 works like a charm and I do nothing different between the two installations (yes I'm anal and write down everything I do). In addition, I e-mailed suse-support in the middle of last week about this and, apart from their automated response, have not heard a whisper form them. Adrian
