Hello.
Could someone tell me what is the fastest way to get the newest version of apache working on an older SuSE version. [6.2]
Downloaded the source. Now i have to compile. Tried --prefix=/usr/sbin, but it does not work.
Any other suggestions?
You could get one of the apache compile helpers listed on freshmeat. http://freshmeat.net/appindex/Development/Tools.html One is called "Apache Compile Kit" and the other is "Apache Toolbox". These are to help compiling with various modules, but the toolbox advertises itself as an easy to use tool. As far as compiling from the source from Apache.org goes; what exactly is the error message you get when the compile fails? Apache should compile fine unless you need to update some packages first. It likes to install itself to a different directory, but it stays within it's source directory when compiling. Maybe the latest version needs an updated libc?
