We have one AMDK6/350 which is considered top of the line , Two 150/P166s and two P133s which are still towing the line. Applix is very usable on the 150/166s , while the 133s do duty as firewall and server. kde is s bit sluggusg , but XFCE is very usable. I plan on moving the K6 down the line when we upgrade it , but so far it has been plugging along nicely. with all the ranting and raveing I now want to give GNOME a try and check it out. <p>I nthink you will want to look into the AMD Athalon or the Duron which has a few things taken out , but is a socket cpu and not a slot one cpu. You may be able to use some of your old components , but may want to set up a new system with all the new goodies. Nothing like booting up a pc that you slaped tpogether and not paid the M$ tax. I have been compiling most of my apps that are available as source and I currently run an "old faithful" AMD K6-2/400 3DNow processor.
