That was pretty brave of you. Do you really think KDE2 is ready to REPLACE kde1? Anyway I'm not sure about 7.0 but you could try reinstalling KDE2. The deinstall of KDE1 may have removed some important config stuff if you used Yast. Did ya use yast to delete kde1? It may have been better to just "rm -r /opt/kde".
I'm not sure if SuSe has set up their KDE2 config stuff as nice as they have for KDE1 yet so I don't know how easy it will be to run only KDE2.
May you'll get more help from others that have done it. Personally I'd keep kde1 installed and just play with KDE2 untill it's a little more mature.
