Hi guys,
I have been off the list for a couple of months so apologies if this has been asked recently.
7.0 pro just arrived and I decided to liberate an Abit BP6 dual celeron mobo for the new machine.
However, the second ide controller (an ata 66 interface) isn't getting automagically recognized. Does anyone know which module I have to load to get it correctly used.
Currently it is reported as a mass storage controller of an unknown type and any HD's on it are in-correctly reported at about 8Gig. If I accept this reduction in size (HD's are 15+Gig) then install proceeds but hangs at seemingly random points later.
Hi, I think the ABIT board uses the Highpoint Technologies HPT 366 ATA 66 controller. The Abit site has a BIOS update for your MB which includes an update to the HPT 366 controller. My previous experience of the HPT366 was on an add-on PCI card which SuSE "automagically" (nice word that) picked up and installed. Suggest a search around the Abit site and the HPT site as I seem to remember some Linux specific downloads lurking. Unfortunately I cannot remeber the URL for HPT but Abit are at the obvious one.
