Telnet Weirdness
Runing SuSE 7.0 Kernel 2.2.16 - When I am logged onto my box at home I can telnet to my ISP shell account and telnet back to my box. But I am not able to telnet from my office or even bring up the apache web server. I have telnet setup on my firewall at my office for out going Telnet Sessions (WatchGuard - Firebox). When I ran 6.4 / 2.2.14 had no problems. It's probably something stupid that I have forgot to add route, etc....
Use nmap against your box from the office to discover what the firewall is blocking, this may give you a clue as to what the problem is. As Rolando says, most likely telnet is blocked, you may have more luck with SSH (which you should really be using anyway). Good old ping and traceroute may prove useful too to see if basic communication can be established. Can you supply the config for the firewall and/or the routing tables in question? - John -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
