I have two separate 6.4 installations on my hard drive. One is Reiser FS, the other is standard ext2 FS. The problem is that XMMS works fine on the standard fs system for playing audio Cds as normal user. On the reiser fs system, XMMS will not play audio CDs as a normal user, but it will as root. I have cross-checked all of the setup configurations and permissions that I can think of, and they all are the same. anybody got any ideas? I am stumped.
You need to have write permissions for the CD-ROM device (the one /dev/cdrom is pointing to). Have you checked that one, too?
