Hi, I am putting together a new system with the following spec: ABit KT7 RAID (ATA100) motherboard 2xATA100 drives using RAID 0 (striping) (hde and hdg) 1xATA66 drive (hda) Athlon processor. etc.... Now I know I currently can't make use of the Raid disks under Linux, which is the reason I bought the ATA66 disk (Maxtor 15Gb), hoverer I boot the system using the RAID disks into System Commander. I can install SuSE 7 onto hda no problems making use of the partitions: hda1 - /boot - primary partition - 30Mb - below 1024 cylinder limit hda2 - / - primary partition - 13Gb - I have tried partitioning into smaller partitions (/usr, opt etc) hda3 - swap - primary partition - 256Mb When I run LILO and try to assign a configuration to the /boot directory I get an error about /dev not being on this partition. If I accept the default of /, LILO accepts this and proceeds with the configuration. However when I boot the system and tell System Commander to boot Linux, I get "LI" displayed and the system refuses to boot. I have read that it could be a geometry issue with the drive and have tried adding "hda=29777,16,63" as parameters to LILO but it still refuses to boot. This is the first time I have tried to put Linux onto a system using EIDE previously I have used SCSI without any problems. Hope someone can help, Andy. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
