I dare you to put it on ftp. I love to see SuSE scramble with unofficial mirrors popping up on the net because SuSE seems to live in the 80s still when people had no bandwidth for downloading stuff. I refuse to handle disks when I got a powerfull line in my house. Is SuSE still planning to burn CDs in 2010??? RedHat seems to be ahead of SuSE in this because they started a subscription service for their high-end ftp service.
I'd read the fine print before signing up for that service. It's not a complete set, and basically only for the updates they want you to have. If you are an administrator of 100+ machines it's a good thing. If not, then it isn't worth it. That is if you can even get their site to respond. After reading about it, I found that I couldn't even get the information. They made the announcement, and didn't have the info available. Nuff said about RH.
I haven't lost faith in SuSE Linux but I have lost faith in the people behind it that they don't provide a ftp service. Am I the only person who likes to live without carrying around a bunch of CDs and stuff his room with similar manuals???
Just to make this clear one more time. I will only be purchasing CD copies of SuSE if you start opening up the ftp process. If you won't stop torturing your ftp customers then I hope others pull even with me with stopping the revenue from going to SuSE.
My first inclination to this was to say don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out. If you FTP everything why bother buying anything. Your logic defies what you are saying. "I'll FTP it and then buy the CD's.." Yea right..
