Yes. that is correct. There are so many ways to shoot your foot off. ;-( I had *serious trouble* mounting, although it said "user" in fstab. The reason was mount wasn't SETUID. btw. "user" means that any user can mount (with that options od fstab) and that *this* user (or root) must unmount. "users" means the same, but *anybody* can umount. Again, all works as long mount and umount are SETUID Juergen

Either change the permissions of the mount command or use su1.
for the above suggestion check, the setting of PERMISSION_SECURITY in rc.config. If ot is set to "secure" or "paranoid", mount will be not useable as user. You can edit /etc/permissions.local in the style of permissions.* to allow the use of mount.
