Hi,
On the FTP site, in the same directory as the .tgz
files, is an extract.exe file. Download this and
place into the same directory as the Xinstall.sh and
other .tgz (and font files). I just went to the
directory and mget *.*. Once you are done, just run
the Xinstall.sh again, and you should be good to go!

Hi !
I try downloading the binaries from XFree86 4.0.1 but the script says that I need the extract utility ? and I can't find it any where..
could you send me the detaill instalation instructions that you follow to install it ?
also, have you install KDE 2 ? and if you do how ?
thanks
Eduardo.
Note: I have SuSE 6.4
Personally, I wish everyone would upgrade to 4.0; using the SuSE update. But, please, do what I failed to do, and have a pen handy to write down everything you see when it fails miserably. Then, have the XFree package ready, so that you can properly install X. Also, maybe someone can find out why the root .xsession gets erased, adn KDM is limping without background! (if you want an extreme fix to this, uninstall KDE, then reinstall).
Just being sarcastic. It is a good upgrade, just a little difficult on my system. Others have had no problems.

Crikey, the damn thing works, I've got glorious quake2 and UT ticks along very nicely thank you.
If anyone is stuck with an NVidia chipset and 3.3.6, take the plunge, go for 4.0.1, you get a -configure option with xf86config..
Excellent......
