I'm running SuSE 6.3 without any kernel updates. I'd like to upgrade to kernel 2.2.16. I went to ftp:/ftp.suse.com/.../update/6.3 and could not locate anything that looks like a kernel location. (I did not search all the directories). Will k_i386.rpm from the 6.4 update location work under 6.3?
Yes. 2.2.16 isn't the best kernel out there though. Unless you need 2.2.16 features you might want to stick with what you have.
Is there documentation anywhere which describes the steps in upgrading a kernel using k_i386.rpm. I assume you would have to adjust /etc/lilo.conf and run /sbin/lilo.
