Last night (with the help of a slightly more experienced Linux user) I rebuilt the kernel from 2.2.14 to 2.2.16. Because of eth0 configuration that I did entirely by hand, there were dozens of errors upon reboot. My 10/100Mb LinkSys NIC still works; so far, I think my SuSE box is stable... . By editing /etc/rc.config most of the errors have gone away, but ones like these still clutter the console:: Aug 11 21:20:57 suzah modprobe: Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.2.16/modules.dep Aug 11 21:20:57 suzah insmod: Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.2.16/modules.dep Aug 11 21:21:07 suzah modprobe: Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.2.16/modules.dep Aug 11 21:21:07 suzah modprobe: Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.2.16/modules.dep Can anyone tell me what's causing these errors|warnings and how to clear them up? thanks much, gary -- Gary D.
