Hi all, While this is not strictly a SuSE question, I wonder if anyone has come across this problem. I have a Maxtor 4.3GB HDD in my linux server with the O.S. installed on it. I have three partitions: 25Mb mounted as /boot at the start of the drive 130Mb swap drive The rest mounted as /
I am trying to install a 6.4GB drive in place of the 4.3GB but am hitting a wall when I partition it. I create all the partitions as on the 4.3GB above, write the partitions to the disk, and reboot.
Did You mke2fs on each partition after writing the partition info to the disk.
When I reboot there are no partitions!! 4.3GB is /dev/hda 6.4GB is /dev/hdb CD is /dev/hdc Geometry of 6.4GB drive is 15/63/13328 (Auto detected) 4.3Gb is 255/63/525 Could this be a problem with LBA translation (or lack of it maybe) I am reluctant to mess with drive geometry settings The mobo is a Intel dual PII 450 server board N440BX
Has anyone had this problem and can tell me a way to solve it.........
TIA,
Keith Gibbons, Ireland.
