init 1 does not allow me to umount and it does not promt me for root password. i tried init s and it promts me for passwd and allosws me to umount, then i ran the suggested command and it runs and checks with results of pass but and reboot time msg warning still pops up........ BUT - that was from 6.2. I noticed on 6.4 that only the following would work. (I had a crash trying to run vmware again)
#init 1 #umount / #e2fsck -f -b 0 /dev/hdxx
