Hello Linux folks, Thank you very much for replies and hints. However, nor one of solutions worked out for me. I do have APM enabled in my kernel 2.2.16 but I can't see apm in /proc. I got dual PII 400 Linux box buit on ASUS P2B-DS MB. I red that some dual processor systems do not support APM feature even it is enabled in BIOS. I'm not sure about ASUS dual MB there is no information on their Web Site. Could somebody who has dual processor system tell me if it possible to use APM with it. Thank you in advance. Alex
hit send to quickly,
init 0 halt
both do the same thing as shutdown -h

shutdown -h should just power the system down if your motherboard supports it.
