I recently purchased the Wordperfect Office Suite 2000 for Linux, Deluxe edition. Following the advice on this list, I contacted Corel and got the setup script from their ftp site. I installed the system. The basics work nicely (I especially needed something that would translate M$ files). BUT: 1) I cannot access all the fonts (they are not all installed) ============================================================= It appears that only a portion of the fonts are installed in the setup. I would like to have access to the others and also to be able to load the type-1 fonts if necessary. Apparently, the Bitstream Font Installer is bundled with the software, but see below... 2) I cannot start the Fonttastic font server ============================================= I have followed the instructions contained in the readme file on CD 1 for installing and starting this. If I do so, and then start wordperfect I get screenloads of the following error: err:win32:CRITSECTION_WaitForCriticalSection Critical section 0x82d6dd4 (X11DRV_CritSection) wa it failed Unhandled exception: critical section 082d6dd4 wait failed inside debugger, exiting. in 32-bit code (0x080ccbb1). followed by screenloads of Unhandled exception: critical section 082d6dd4 wait failed inside debugger, exiting. err:win32:CRITSECTION_WaitForCriticalSection Critical section 0x8373fc0 (SysLevel crst) wait ti med out, retrying (20 sec) Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 inside debugger, exiting. Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 inside debugger, exiting. Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 inside debugger, exiting. What's worse, if I try to log out or shutdown after having started the Fonttastic server, the X-server freezes - I can't access any consoles, can't break out of X nothing. The only solution is (ugh) a hard boot. 3) I cannot start the Bitstream Font Installer (ftfi) ===================================================== Apparently Wordperfect has to be opened before this can be used. So opening wordperfect and on another terminal starting ftfi from the command line I get: a) If I've tried to install Fonttastic server I get FSIO: fatal IO error 32 (Broken Pipe) on fontserver "tcp/localhost:7100" after 1 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining. The connection was probably broken by a server shutdown. b) Without starting Fonttastic I get Nothing...zip.... Here's my system configuration: PII 300MHz 256Mb RAM SuSE 6.3 (standard install except I'm runnin xfsft on port 7100) Has anyone managed to get this whole system working? That is, has anyone got the Fontastic font server and the Bitstream Font Installer running correctly? If so, how did you do it? As far as I can see I've followed the Corel instructions to the letter. I've had to hard boot my system more times in the last few nights than I have in the past 5 years so any help will be gratefully appreciated by me and my computer!
