Anyone running the latest Helix binaries on 6.4 well?
Yes, actually. I installed a default system from the Eval CD (the same one you'd get from CheapBytes or the like), with no GNOME libraries installed except for glib and gtk+. I proceeded directly to http://www.helixcode.com/ to procure some 83 packages worth of Helix GNOME. The installation was smooth but lengthy (about two hours of download on the T1 here at work, more like an hour and a half at home on ADSL). I don't use GDM, but from my experience from SuSE 6.3, DON'T ALLOW THE HELIX INSTALLER TO MAKE THAT CHANGE FOR YOU. If you want to use GDM, simply tell the Helix installer not to do it, and go merrily about the rest of the installation. When the job is done, go back to YaST or simply edit /etc/rc.config so that DISPLAYMANAGER="gdm" and run SuSEconfig. -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 x121 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
