hi all,
i would be very grateful if anyone could help me with the following: i run SuSE 6.2 on my toshiba laptop. in order to use my soundcard (ESS Maestro), i need the appropriate driver, which is apparently included in kernel 2.2.14. however, i have kernel 2.2.10. is it possible to update the kernel (without updating the entire system), and if so, how? or is it possible to get the driver, without updating the kernel?
i looked around on the SuSE site, but found nothing that could help me.
TIA

Sure you can install an other kernel along with the SuSE one by
getting the source tarball, compile and install it. It should be as simple
as typing
make xconfig (or menuconfig)
make dep clean bzLilo modules modules_install
For the card I dunno if there is a patch for your kernel but it don't see
any reasons why such a thing doesn't exist. Anybody knows?
Regards...
