LINUX/UNIX FILE-INFECTING VIRUSES (1) ------------------------------------- UNIX/LOVELETTER.WORM
The above was in the readme.txt from the DAT4079.zip for NA Anti Virus software, saying what new viruses the dat detects.
How does this sort of virus attack Unix/Linux? Surely to do any sort of damage it has to be able to have user access. Or does it run from Windows and attack over Samba?
AFAIK the warning is only aimed at those who administer a Linux/Unix box as a gateway to a Win network. the idea being that the *nix box can safely deal with the virus before it has a chance to infect the poor Win boxes downstream. -- Regards Don Hansford ECKYTECH COMPUTING Surfing the Net (without crashing) With SuSE 6.4 Linux (Thanx Linus!)
