In answer to your question, there isn't a Notes client for Linux, and there won't be for a long time, if ever. The head development honchos at Lotus have said the whole source is tied to MFC, so a port would basically mean a rewrite.
There have been some reports of success with some versions of Notes running under some versions of Wine, but it's not a sensible solution. I doubt it ever will be, although WineLib seems to do it's job moderately well these days. I've not heard of Lotus experimenting with WineLib though.
No, you're basically out of luck. Vmware is your only hope. That works fine.

What is this all about then? http://www.notes.net/linux I'm serious, I would love to be able to get my wife off win98/notes. It's the only thing keeping windose in my home. She uses it for work. Isn't the above link offering Notes for Linux??
