It has been sometime ago but I recall running the Sybase 11.9.2 RPM's with the option '--nodeps' per Sybase instructions. Good luck, Bill Barnes

===== I know when I try some RedHat stuff, some of their files demand packages peculiar to Red Hat. If you're going to raid from other distributions, Caldera RPM's seem to work on SuSE 6.3--at least the few that I've tried. ---Jim At 12:06 PM 5/18/00 -0400, you wrote:
I'm trying to get some RPMs that were made on RH to work on SuSE. In particular I've tried PostgreSQL 7.0 and Sybase 11.9.2, neither of which will work. PGSQL gives me this error: /sbin/chkconfig is needed by postgresql-7.0-1 libreadline.so.3 is needed by postgresql-7.0-1 and Sybase gives this one: glibc >= 2.0.7-29 is needed by sybase-common-11.9.2-1 ldconfig >= 1.9.5-8 is needed by sybase-common-11.9.2-1 ld.so >= 1.9.5-8 is needed by sybase-common-11.9.2-1 Are there any general rules for bringing RH RPMs over to SuSE that I should be aware of?
