Thanx to those who responded to my broken path, but I tried all the suggestions and it is still not working. Here is what I have at the in /etc/profile: test -e /etc/profile.local && . /etc/profile.local Which is a standard Yast Install. Then in /etc/profile.local I have: wka /home/chris# cat /etc/profile.local export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/jdk1.2.2/bin export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/usr/local/JSDK2.0/lib But set does not show the appaended path or the classpath setting. What could be up? Also is profile read when the system is reboot or whenever you log in ? I have no .profile .bashrc or .tcshrc in the users home. Help!!
