AFAIK the cheapest way to obtain PM is with electronic delivery which renders `start up' via CDRom a moot issue. When installed under Windows you are offered the option for a `DOS' install in addition to the regular Windows version. I found I could access this to allow me a one-floppy boot of PM from either OpenDOS or from MS-DOS. It may be possible to take the electronic delivered file (it is a ZIP, IIRC) and pick out the `dos parts', but I haven't done that, so I can't say whether it is possible or not. The classic setup process, of course, requires Windows for handling the dialogue with the console etc. It is safe to say that if you can get it installed on windows _somewhere_ then you can use the DOS auxilliary via Floppy... jan vermeulen wrote:

Do you need windows to install Partition Magic 5?
You don't. All you need is two DOS formatted floppy disks; then open the DOS folder on the PM CD and load the contents of the DISK1 and DISK2 folders onto their repsective floppies.
Disk 1 will boot Caldera OpenDOS, then PMagic. Disk 2 contains the help files.
At least that's how I remember it worked for me ;-)
