hi folks i agree with Jon here.I want to tell my experience here if you don't mind. Actually i haven't been on this list for more than a fortnight but i've been on to the linux-india mailing lists. A coupla months ago, it was divided into linux-india-help for general help ,installation guides, etc and linux-india-programmers for technical stuff, and linux-india-advocacy for promotion of linux and linux-india-general for the all other linux issues. But in reality what 's happened is that some guys ask right questions in the wrong list and the replies do not provide assistance but ask them to detour to the proper list. And the threads are really broken. I have liked this list so i don't want to any thing to happen to this. It is much more nice this way. Sadly, I don't. If this list were forked into multiple segments, one would have to subscribe to all of them to get the benefits we enjoy as one list. Then, not only do users have to think about which list they post to, but volunteers have to monitor the traffic to ensure that the user posts to the proper list for his/her question. This leads to time issues as well as traffic issues, and I can't recall the number of messages with URGENT in the subject or body since I joined over a year ago. This is not acceptable, either.
Yes, we're chatty. No, there's no practical solution.
