Let's put this into perspetive. Recently, on vacation, I visited New Salem state park in Illinois. This was Abrabam Lincoln's home in his youth.
I learned that in Lincoln's time the amount inns could charge for a night's lodging and food was set by state law to 3 bits.
Can you imagine such intrusion into private business today?
This still continues, a few months ago I was shown a recent newspaper article where a breakfast diner in MA was shutdown because the prices for food and cigarettes were not within the bounds set forth by the state. They were too low and the state was using some kind of anti-competitive practices statute to prosecute the owner. (I understand there is also a maximum price that can be charged). Again, sorry to those not interested.
