Hi Gerrit, Koos & All, Gerrit wrote, in part; <snip> But the new HD isnŽt very cooperativ I couldnŽt install it yet. And I tried to install it the whole day(!). IŽm totally stressed and you are my last hope! ;) I think my old BIOS (itŽs from 8/1995...) doesnŽt support HDŽs with a capacity higher than 2GB. Ok, thatŽs a known problem with a known solution: installing a Diskmanager. <snip> Check the cable select pins, in the back of the hard drive, master/slave/cable select, for each of your IDE channels. Then you "should" be able to mount/see the drive, to fdisk & format it. You maybe able to update the bios, by flashing it with an update, check your Motherboard Manual & then the manufacture's site. If push comes to shove, it maybe time to upgrade your hardware, to a "newer second-hand" Motherboard?
