Hi Francesco, the error message is perfectly all right. Being root does not mean you have access to the running X server. XF86 uses by default the MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE system for authentication and authorization. You best read the manpage for "X". But to be short, simply do the following: As normal user: $ xauth nextract - $DISPLAY Now cut the output in your mouse buffer, then su to root. As root, do the following: # xauth nmerge -
(now paste in your mouse buffer) (CTRL-D) # setenv DISPLAY :0 #
Now an X client-server-connection should be possible Regards Oli -- /********************************************\ * * * Oliver Tennert * * * * +49 -7071 -9457-598 * * * * e-mail: O.Tennert@science-computing.de * * science + computing GmbH * * Hagellocher Weg 71 * * D-72070 Tuebingen * * * \********************************************/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
