I just recompiled a kernel so I could get sound and some other optimizations. When I compiled ( I used the config utility for X don't recall the name) I did the make bzImage. After it's all done I find a file in /usr/src/linux-2.2.10.SuSE/arch/i386/boot/compressed/bvmlinux.out. I am assuming that this is my new compressed kernel. I copy it to /boot/bvmlinux and do a chmod 644 on it. I then edit /etc/lilo.conf to add this in as another boot option so that I can try it out. I run /sbin/lilo and get an error something like "can't do /boot/bvmlinux image too big". I don't understand why I am getting this as it is ~50K smaller than the default /boot/vmlinuz. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Or am I missing something here?
