Hi,
graphical installer called drakx. SuSE would be wise to incorporate drakx into the next release of SuSE Linux.
Naa. It wouldn't install LILO..
<PERSONAL RANT> Well, since distributions nowadays only seem to be judged by it's installation utility, how should we set ourself apart by reusing someone else's tool?
Agreed.
We have added a lot of features in YaST2 for SuSE Linux 6.4.
There will be a more flexible partitioning dialogue, which will also allow you to use ReiserFS partitions and multiple disks (no LVM yet, you still need to fall back to YaST1 for Logical Volumes). In addition to that, there is a more flexible package selection and the configuration of Sound cards, printers, Internet connection with Modem/ISDN and Network configuration.
Will it accept the present partition scheme? I've got it the way *I* like it, and would rather not switch. ;-) Oh, one other quick question.. I was lucky enough to get the Cebit release while I was up there. Would it be possible to use it as the base install, and then install other packages from the 6.3 release? I tried it by updating 6.3 with the Cebit release, and didn't have much luck. Oh, and for those of you that didn't get to Cebit, SuSE had one of the hottest booths going. One heck of a great show. I could have spent hours there.. Thanks Lenz and all the others.
