-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Thanks for the help. It now says running and idle. It was as you said simple over look. Now I just have to check and see if it really faxed. I have to go to work to find out. - -----Original Message----- From: George Zeigler [mailto:genz1968@mtu-net.ru] Sent: Saturday, March 04, 2000 1:15 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com; suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: RE: [SLE] HylaFax HOW-TO for SuSE users!!! Hello,
Hash: SHA1
I used your HOW-TO last night. However, when I check in /var/log/messages, FaxGetty is trying to connect to /dev/modem instead of /dev/ttyS1 like my config.ttyS1 file states. There is no such setting within config.ttyS1 . The file is given it's name when doing faxaddmodem or faxsetup by the way. I forget which.
Did you follow the instructions for the settings in /etc/inittab? Look in your inittab file, does the faxgetty line look like mo:2345:respawn:/usr/lib/fax/faxgetty /dev/ttyS1 You may have left the default setting ~/dev/modem in place.
I did notice though, that you were having the same problems, as stated in your HOW-TO. Nope. I meant that lock problems can be avoided my not using 'modem'.
How did you make ppp connect using /dev/ttyS1? My wvdial.conf is set to /dev/ttyS1 and pppd.conf(I think that is the file) has nothing about what serial port or link to a serial port to use. These have nothing to do with Faxgetty anyhow. I'm betting it's your /etc/inittab setting.
Good luck and let me know if I'm right.
