My mouth is wattering at all the goodies right around the corner , especialy delpni on linux. This must have M$ smoking , I mean look at it. Os , Dev tools , desktop , what next. Every think M4 gets a hold of either gets canned , or microsoftized into there bloat/vaper wear. Remmber foxpro , they had a big chunk of the pie , then ther was dbxl that they bought and caned. I realy like the borland stuff , and they do listen to the message boards and list. They also keep in mind the small devoloper and third party. Just look at delphi and there third party tools avialable. Most of wich source code is avialable . (It may caost twice as much for the source but its there as an option. Borland even released the source code for the vcl components as well.
Mind you because of this merger Corel now has an Operating system, Office Suite, Development tools (c++/Delphi/Java), Middleware technologies (VisiBroker CORBA, AppServer), Databases etc. all of which will be available on Linux, if not already, in a few months. Another MS in the making?
Cheers
Phil
