Hi all, I've got a strange problem. I have a term (tty2) that's sitting at a prompt, but not accepting any input (nothing written to the screen). I also have another two terms (tty1 and an xterm) that are in the middle of running programs, but they aren't responding to a ^C at all, although they will dispay any characters that are typed in (just not do anything with them other than write them to the screen). I have tried killing the running programs (in the (x)terms) with a 'kill -9' but that doesn't work. I even tried closing the xterm that one of them was running in - no luck. I should point out that all of the affected terms are either logged in as root, or su root. I have no idea what's going on here. If it makes any difference, I've just compiled wine, but the term sitting at a prompt was already doing so before compiling wine. I also ran out of disk space last night... this is the most promisinig candidate, although I ran out of space as user, not root (so there should have been enough for the system to work in). I'm alright for space now (sort of) as I have 300MB free. /var/log/messages appears to be clean, other than loads of messages about 'DHCPNAK in wrong transaction', but I'll sort them out another time.
