Hi!
I am trying to create a remote X server machine on my small lan. The machine I am trying to install it to has Slackware 7.0 installed and is allready a mail www, nfs and smb server (telnet too ofcourse). I am having problems connectin and setting up X on that machine couse it uses a noname graphic card which IMHO uses svga X server at its best and allways forces 320x200 mode allthough the monitor is set up to use 1280x1024 mode. I don't know if that matters much couse I will only connect to it via remote machine with a lot better graphic card. Could someone please assist me with this problem.
Point 1, from your point of view X servers are never remote, it is the clients that are, remember that the server does the work while the client decides what to do. The easy way to handle remote clients is to use ssh, it has inbuilt X forwarding. The slightly harder approach to connect from me to mail is: xauth list me:0 ..... rlogin mail DISPLAY=me:0 export DISPLAY xauth add .... # the text from above /Michael -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
