I upgraded my desktop computer from 6.2 to 6.3 over the weekend. It mostly went ok but I now can't get the sound to work. When OSS tries to start it says the version is incompatible, tries to recompile but still fails. I even tried downloading a current version from 4Front, but it has the same result. I have recompiled the kernel to support a network card, but the oss problem existed with the original kernel as well. Suggestions greatly appreciated!
It seems to me that I had the exact same problem. So, here's my solution install ALSA (use YaST and read the description file), it works super for me. Alvaro Novo
