Hi folks.. I've also tried this Dowloaded the latest wvdial rpm (1.40 I think) from the suse ftp site WvDial works great when started manually Installed the scipt and followed all the instructions from the support db Script seems to work (gives all sorts of messages when started) I then expected to start netscape type a url and hear the modem roar into life. No such luck. No error messages. Any suggestions greatfully recieved. Thanks guys, Mark "B. L. Jilek" wrote:
Hello again,
I've been trying to setup diald and am having no luck whatsoever.
I am able to dial my ppp connection using wvdial and my ppp-up script. But I can't seem to get diald configured to dial when I try to access the net with netscape or other internet programs. It dosn't seem to be doing anything.
I have IP MASQ setup and firewalling using ipchains. I activate it in my ip-up script. I have SAMBA running for a win98 system on my lan.
When I had RH 6.0 installed I never got it working either but I was able to run diald so it printed out what it was doing but I can't even do that now I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I tried the scripts on the howto but it was no help. I looked at the simpson scripts but it has ipchains stuff in it and new ip-up scripts and I don't want to mess with the stuff I already have working.
Can anyone give me an idea of what I need to look at to figure out what is not working? Or a working diald.conf script?
I even tried the wvdial.dod from the SuSE support DB. It starts but also does nothing from that point.
This is my diald.conf:
mode ppp connect /etc/ppp/ppp-up device /dev/ttyS2 speed 115200 modem lock crtscts local 192.168.1.1 remote 0.0.0.0 defaultroute include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter
I'm just typing "diald" to start it.
