Yes, we here at SuSE... TNT and TNT2 both work very well. You can add slightly more details if you have a TNT2...

Nothing at all. Make sure you have the resolutions that you want to use for Quake (800x600?) in your XF86Config, because otherwise Quake will be unable to switch to that resolution.
