Hi I am using LRP 2.9.4 and want to block access to certain web sites (ie: ads.doubleclick.net, 207.179.169.46, etc). In Windows, I can put the domain name in my hosts file and point it to my local web server. This, of course, adds traffic to my web server and does not work when the link on a web page is an IP address. How can I do this using LRP? Is the "hosts.deny" file for internal access to the router?
What would be the ramifications of this action? From what I've seen in Netscape, it will hang (for a while) waiting for an ACK of its SYN packet, which was blocked by the router. Am I off track here? I've seen firewalls that block access to yahoo, and that's exactly what happens when you try to surf to yahoo. But if only one reference is blocked in a page, what will the browser do? -- George Toft http://www.georgetoft.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
