Will there be any updates of X.org or SAX2 for SuSE Linux 8.2 ?
X.org was never included in SuSE 8.2, so I guess there will never be an official version for it. Are there any bugs in SaX2 that have to be fixed?
SuSE Linux 8.2 is still suported by SuSE, and I can get updates for it. But only for kde and security related stuff, not for SAX2 or the X server. The X server for 8.2 is Xfree86, I would like to replace it with X.org.
Download the sources for X.org and follow the description in the INSTALL file.
Why can't I get any updates for SAX2 or X.org for this version, altough it is still a suported version of SuSE ?
"Supported" doesn't mean that every new product will be released in a SuSE 8.2 version be SuSE. Usually even version updates of software included in SuSE 8.2 are not available through YOU, only bug fixes. Or do you have a maintenance contract with SuSE? Linux is still free software, you don't have to pay SuSE for using SuSE 8.2 or even 9.1. - -- Ciao, Oliver GPG Public Key available at http://www.keyserver.net Key fingerprint = CD75 B140 3EAB 859B A904 C4EC BE86 FAC5 8566 5CEF Current Linux uptime: 2 hours 38 minutes. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBQ1NHvob6xYVmXO8RApkwAKCAMqRKh+wwizbWtfQLmsYZgcd4EgCgmnyk luVmO4g27cr0KMR7gDkfEzI= =1/50 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
